Ji Yeon-soo revealed the psychological isolation she felt amidst conflicts with her in-laws and the decisive reason she decided to divorce. In the broadcast of TV CHOSUN's 'We Got Divorced 2', a scene was depicted where Ji Yeon-soo pours out the resentment and wounds she had accumulated toward her husband, Eli.
"They didn't see me as a person" The isolation felt by Ji Yeon-soo
Ji Yeon-soo appealed that she was not treated with personal respect in her relationship with her in-laws. She pointed out that instead of treating her as a member, the in-laws tried to control her for specific purposes. Ji Yeon-soo said, "What I wanted was just for them to see me as a person," and stated that only her husband, Eli, treated her as a person, while the rest of the family did not.
In particular, the core of the conflict was that the attitude of the in-laws was not consideration for her, but unilateral demands to maintain the family framework. Ji Yeon-soo explained the situation where she could not tell anyone about her dissatisfaction or difficulties, saying, "I felt like they were desperate to kick me out."
"I felt like a punching bag"... The rift in conflict leading to divorce
Ji Yeon-soo conveyed her feelings at the time by mentioning specific situations she experienced during her married life. She expressed that she was like a 'punching bag' who only had to absorb emotions within the family. Although her husband, Eli, attempted to mediate between the conflicts with the in-laws, Ji Yeon-soo revealed that she felt alienated and separated in that process instead.
Mentioning the situation during her past visit to the United States, Ji Yeon-soo raised the question of whether the in-laws were already making plans with divorce in mind at that time. She expressed strong rejection toward the fact that the in-laws' demands were made without including her and the child, saying, "The result is always like this."
In response to Ji Yeon-soo's remarks, husband Eli reacted by saying, "I know it was hard, and I am sorry," but Ji Yeon-soo continued the conversation by emphasizing that the methods she had proposed in the past inevitably led to the result of separating the family.
