Artist CORTIS has released a video capturing the process of conceiving and practicing a new concept to celebrate their birthday. This video goes beyond simple choreography practice, taking on the character of a demonstration to pre-design martial arts movements and visual direction for upcoming shoots.
"Must Kill My Past Self"... The Philosophy Behind the Concept
CORTIS mentioned 'new birth' as the core background for the direction shown in this video. They revealed that this concept began from the thought that in order to be reborn, one must kill their past self. The video includes direction such as shooting guns and fighting using zombie blood spray; they explained that this is a prop (zombie blood spray) so that fans would not be startled by seeing blood, thereby conveying the intention of the concept.

This concept started from an idea that occurred alone on the way home from work. They explained that the process of thinking about how to shoot to make it look interesting while walking home became the foundation for this demonstration video.
The Sophisticated Design Process of Martial Arts Scenes and Choreography
The video reveals specific considerations for combining martial arts movements and choreography. CORTIS did not stop at simply dancing, but meticulously calculated how to move hands during specific movements so that a sweep kick would follow naturally, or how to set camera angles so that movements would look effective. In particular, they put effort into visual implementation, such as using a 3D model app to adjust poses.

Strategies to increase filming efficiency were also mentioned. The reason the beginning of the video is important is that it includes a scene of shooting a gun at the end, making it difficult to re-shoot the beginning later due to issues such as getting blood on things. Accordingly, the video captures the appearance of planning the filming order and composition meticulously.
Creative Passion Leading to All-Nighters
An obsession with creation is also confirmed. CORTIS revealed that despite it being a holiday, they were immersed in work, traveling between the company and home until 4 AM. Even after the Song Camp ended, they returned immediately and organized the choreography within an hour, showing that they do not spare physical time to create high-quality results.
After finishing the demonstration, they concluded the work with a determination to "do well with the filming tomorrow," while also conceiving specific editing directions to increase the aesthetic perfection of the video, such as creating a mechanical feel through the speed control of the choreography.
