During the third episode of Mnet Plus food talk show IDOL'S TABLE, cast members recommended pairing webfoot octopus with mayonnaise or eating jokbal with makguksu to help newcomers manage intense heat.

How should one introduce the spicy flavors of South Korea to foreign friends? In the third episode of the food talk show IDOL'S TABLE released by Mnet Plus, the cast members shared their personal preferences for K-spicy foods and the combinations that pair well with them.

From webfoot octopus neutralized by mayonnaise to spicy pig's feet and makguksu combinations

The cast suggested various dishes as good entry points for foreigners to experience Korean spiciness. One participant recommended webfoot octopus, emphasizing that if the spice is too intense, dipping it in mayonnaise allows foreign friends to enjoy it deliciously. Meanwhile, another cast member who prefers spicy pig's feet (jokbal) shared the charm of the dish by mentioning the Korean-style combination of eating jokbal with makguksu. During the discussion, it was noted that while Thailand also has dishes made with pig's feet, the difference is that in South Korea, the meat is already served sliced.

The discussion continued regarding "side menus" that complement the spiciness of a dish. To help beginners, combinations like soft tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae) or pork belly (samgyeopsal) were mentioned as ways to neutralize heat. Specific preferences were also revealed, such as an absolute preference for the product in the yellow bag when eating ramen. Additionally, an opinion was shared expressing a preference for the Jecheon taste of bibimbap.

Clean spiciness of Cheongyang chili peppers and recommendations for clear soups

Beyond stimulating spiciness, recommendations were made for those seeking a "refreshing and light spiciness." It was suggested to add about three to four Cheongyang chili peppers to clear soup dishes such as yeonpotang or daegutang. The cast explained that the spiciness of chili powder and the spiciness derived from Cheongyang chili peppers have different characters, noting that unlike the spiciness of chili powder, the spiciness from Cheongyang chili peppers is a spiciness that steeps naturally.

In this way, IDOL'S TABLE showcased the diverse spectrum of Korean spicy flavors through the K-food combinations directly experienced and preferred by idols. The program is released every Tuesday at 8 PM via Mnet Plus, and the main broadcast on Mnet is aired every Wednesday at 8 PM.
