Yuk Joong-wan shared an anecdote comparing his past to current market values, recalling how he once rejected an offer from local residents to purchase a building while he was living in a rooftop room in Mangwon-dong.
Appearing on MBC's 'Radio Star', Yuk Joong-wan revealed his life in Mangwon-dong, where he lived in a rooftop room and maintained close relationships with the residents, treating them like family. While sharing side dishes with the neighbors, residents began visiting him one by one after hearing news that he was getting married.

Real estate offers from residents
During the broadcast, Yuk Joong-wan explained the specific circumstances in which residents encouraged him to buy a building. He said the residents of Mangwon-dong, noting that he did not own a home, urged him not to move away but to stay by offering him the chance to own land in Mangwon-dong. At the time, the elderly residents owned properties that were not listed on the real estate market and proposed them to him.
In particular, he mentioned that the owner of the rooftop room building personally visited him to suggest purchasing the building for 850 million won. The owner encouraged the purchase, stating they would sell it to Yuk Joong-wan rather than anyone else. Although Yuk Joong-wan held 300 million won in cash at the time and the owner even provided advice on how to secure loans, he ultimately declined because he felt intimidated by his lack of knowledge regarding financial investment. He added that even after his refusal, the residents continued to make the offer two or three more times out of concern for him.

850 million won property now worth 4 billion won
The property Yuk Joong-wan rejected has since seen a significant increase in value. He mentioned that the current market value of the building he was offered for 850 million won at the time has reached approximately 4 billion won. He also added that the value of surrounding real estate, such as a 50-pyeong plot of land in Mangwon-dong that was worth about 600 million won back then, has risen greatly.
Meanwhile, Yuk Joong-wan drew attention during the broadcast by wearing a hat knitted by his wife. He explained that his wife's hobby is knitting hats she thinks would suit him, and he introduced the one-of-a-kind design. Yuk Joong-wan described the hat as having a feeling similar to a blood cockle, reflecting his wife's taste.
