Sung Si-kyung reveals new song 'Perfect World' was written during car commutes while balancing parenting and music

Singer Sung Si-kyung has shared the sincere emotions behind his new song and the changes in his life as he balances music activities with parenting.

Appearing on KBS 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung, Your Eardrum Boyfriend', Sung Si-kyung discussed "Perfect World," a pre-release track ahead of his first full-length album in 10 years. He revealed that his current life had a significant influence on the lyrics during the production process.

"Lyrics written while thinking of my children"... Balancing parenting and music

Sung Si-kyung explained that the new song captures the emotions he feels as a parent raising two children. "Since I am raising children, the emotions I feel now are mainly centered on them," he said, adding, "I write lyrics while thinking of my children." He explained that because there were no songs that fully captured such feelings when he was raising his first child, he sought to realize those feelings through "Perfect World."

He also mentioned the realistic difficulties of balancing work and childcare. Expressing the weight of parenting, Sung Si-kyung said, "It is to the point where I cannot even sit down for five minutes a day." He added that in a situation where there is a lack of time to focus entirely, "writing lyrics alone, memorizing songs, or eating in the car while moving is the only time I can sit down." Despite this, he shared that regarding his current life, "it may be physically difficult, but I feel much more happiness."

"Realizing mother's sacrifice"... Recalling his past "troublemaker" days

During the broadcast, Sung Si-kyung also drew laughter as he recalled his past behavior. He confessed to realizing his mother's devotion late in life, mentioning his childhood experience of not being able to properly care for a crying child. "When I was young, if a child wouldn't sleep, I hated them so much," Sung Si-kyung said, explaining a situation where his mother would endure holding a child, only for the child to cry again as soon as she tried to put them down. "I realized that this is everything my mother gave me," he said, expressing gratitude toward his mother.

National tour concert announced... "Preparing breakup ballads and cover songs"

News regarding his musical activities followed. Sung Si-kyung mentioned his upcoming national tour concert and gave a slight preview of the stage composition he is preparing for fans. He stated, "Of course, I will perform my existing breakup ballads, and I am also preparing stages where I can make people excited through the cover songs I usually enjoy." After increasing anticipation for the performance by introducing a hiply designed concert poster, Sung Si-kyung concluded the stage by performing the new song "Perfect World" with Gummy.
