Comedian Kim Young-chul has taken on the challenge of piloting a light aircraft, one of the items on his long-awaited bucket list. Through his YouTube channel, Kim Young-chul Original, he recently shared the process of his light aircraft piloting experience conducted in Guam.
"I thought it would be realistically impossible"... A dream of being a pilot becomes a bucket list item
For Kim Young-chul, the dream of becoming a pilot was a long-standing aspiration that went beyond mere curiosity. Prior to this experience, he mentioned that becoming a pilot might be realistically impossible, yet he revealed a deep desire for flying, even suggesting he might consider it as a profession if he were to own a private jet. While he has experience riding in light aircraft, the significance of this challenge was heightened by the fact that it was his first time personally handling the control stick.

The experience took place near the international airport in Guam. Kim Young-chul met a local pilot, Triven, to begin flight preparations. The pilot explained that a minimum of 40 flight hours is required to obtain a Private Pilot License, prompting Kim Young-chul to jokingly express his determination to obtain the license by calculating the remaining time needed through this experience.
Taking the controls, "It is on a different level from driving on the ground"
As the flight began in earnest, Kim Young-chul showed a mix of tension and excitement. He turned the key to start the engine and learned how to manipulate the control stick as he personally led the flight. The moment he passed the runway with the engine sound and rose into the sky, Kim Young-chul performed actual piloting and learned the sensation of flight.

After finishing the flight, Kim Young-chul expressed deep satisfaction with the experience of piloting himself. "I think sitting in the back seat is meaningless. You have to hold the control stick yourself," he remarked, adding, "It is on a different level from driving on the ground. It feels like flying through the sky." After completing the piloting, he shared the lingering impression of the flight, saying, "I think I will dream about piloting while I sleep."
A new challenge achieved amidst the scenery of Guam
This challenge was carried out against the backdrop of Hoshino Resorts RISONARE in Guam. Before the flight, Kim Young-chul was shown relaxing and enjoying various facilities at the resort, such as the swimming pool and slides. In particular, scenes of him feeling nervous while riding a steep slide and engaging in friendly conversation while mentioning his background in the Marine Corps added to the enjoyment of the trip.
Based on the energy gained from this experience, Kim Young-chul emphasized the joy of new challenges. He confirmed that this flight was more than just a simple experience, serving as a precious time to move one step closer to a dream he had held in his heart for a long time.
