Actor Hwang Dong-joo has launched his YouTube channel "I Am Hwang Dong-joo," revealing his daily life and a living room layout featuring a bed instead of a sofa.

Actor Hwang Dong-joo has launched his "I Am Hwang Dong-joo" YouTube channel, revealing a living space where he uses a bed instead of a sofa to better suit his lifestyle. The channel, suggested by a long-time acquaintance last year, features his daily routines and health management, including a daily regimen of various supplements.
Actor Hwang Dong-joo has announced the start of his YouTube channel by revealing a unique living space where a bed is placed in the living room. Through the channel "I Am Hwang Dong-joo," his daily life captures various corners of his home and personal habits that were not fully shown in previous broadcasts.
"A bed instead of a sofa": Why he placed a bed in the living room
The most striking feature of Hwang Dong-joo's living room is the bed situated where a sofa would typically be. He revealed that while he used a sofa in the past, he experienced discomfort, such as body aches, when he fell asleep while watching TV in the living room. Because he spends most of his daytime in the living room watching TV, he found that lying on a bed to rest better suited his lifestyle pattern.

Regarding climbing into bed in outdoor clothes, he explained his own rule, stating, "It's not that I am fastidious, but I only get into bed after washing." He added that while falling asleep while watching TV on the living room bed sometimes puts strain on his shoulders or body, he currently enjoys comfortable rest using items such as a foot massager. Additionally, various props collected during frequent trips to Thailand are placed throughout the living room.
He named the dining table with a view of the mountains and the window seat as his favorite spaces in the house, expressing affection for them by noting he can see all four seasons from there. He also mentioned that he recently buys and arranges flowers himself to set the atmosphere of the home.

A "challenge" started with a younger brother of 10 years
This YouTube channel began following a suggestion from a younger brother with whom Hwang Dong-joo has maintained a relationship since the days of the drama "Cuckoo's Nest" 12 years ago. Hwang confessed that he was offered the suggestion to run a YouTube channel by this individual last year, but initially hesitated due to concerns about whether he could do it himself and a lack of confidence.
However, deciding he could do it if he were with the younger brother with whom he has built long-standing trust, he defined the channel as a space to carry out tasks he had postponed or things he wanted to learn one by one. He shared the purpose of the channel, saying, "If there are things you have put off, I hope you challenge them one by one." After much deliberation, the channel name was decided as "I Am Hwang Dong-joo," using his own name.
"Health is most important": The daily life of a supplement enthusiast
Hwang Dong-joo's health management routine is clearly visible throughout his home. Particularly eye-catching was the vast amount of supplement boxes. He takes probiotics, CoQ10, multivitamins, vitamin C, enzymes, omega-3, and magnesium every day. He starts his day by taking probiotics first thing upon waking up in the morning.
Mentioning a specific product, he said, "After taking it, I feel that going to the bathroom becomes easier and my stomach feels comfortable." He also showed how he cherishes the feelings of his fans by keeping snacks gifted by them and cookies purchased during a trip to Hong Kong. He emphasized the importance of meals and rest, stating, "The more you live alone, the better you must take care of your health through eating."
The taste of the first filming filled with homemade snacks
To celebrate the first filming, Hwang Dong-joo took to cooking. He prepared tteokbokki, which is a menu he enjoys most on filming sets, and fish cake soup using fish cakes purchased from Namdaemun. Although he introduced himself as a "mapjjiri" (someone who cannot eat spicy food well), he put effort into the cooking, such as adding Cheongyang chili peppers to achieve a spicy taste by referring to recipes he saw on YouTube.
Wearing a gifted apron and focusing on the snack cooking, he shared his thoughts on the first filming while sharing the homemade food with his younger brother. For the fish cake soup, he prepared meticulously, such as boiling it in advance considering the time needed for the radish to cook.
