Singer Park Bom, formerly of the group 2NE1, is embarking on a new challenge as a composer. On the 8th, Park Bom shared her recent status through her personal Instagram account, along with a video featuring music she created herself.
In the video, she calmly announced her change in direction, saying, "Hello? I am Park Bom. I have decided to also work as a composer." The song revealed this time is her original composition, 'A Rainy Day.' Park Bom added a detailed explanation regarding her songwriting process. She stated, "For the song I am uploading now, I composed the melody by singing it out loud and wrote down my thoughts by hand to create it." This marks the first time she has presented the results of her musical contemplations to her fans.
She also shared her plans for the completed audio. Park Bom greeted fans by saying, "Please show a lot of love to 'A Rainy Day'," and added, "I will record it myself with my voice later and upload it again." This part reveals her determination to establish her identity not only as a vocalist but also as a creator who makes songs.
Termination of Exclusive Contract and a Break for Health Recovery
Park Bom's recent move coincides with the recent settlement of her relationship with her agency and her health issues. On the 5th of last month, her former agency, D-Nation Entertainment, announced the termination of her exclusive contract. At the time, the agency explained, "Park Bom has been focusing on her health recovery," and "We decided to finalize the contract out of respect for her future career direction."
Park Bom has been focusing on rest after temporarily suspending her activities since August last year due to health reasons. D-Nation added that at the time of the contract termination, Park Bom was in a very emotionally unstable state, and due to difficulties in communication, she was in a situation where treatment and rest for recovery were desperately needed.
Past Controversies and the Agency's Official Position
Park Bom previously caused controversy last October when she posted a photo of a complaint on her Instagram, claiming she had sued her former agency YG Entertainment and Executive Producer Yang Hyun-suk. At that time, D-Nation Entertainment released a position stating, "The settlement related to Park Bom's 2NE1 activities has already been completed, and no such complaint uploaded to SNS has been filed."
