Lun8, showing through their comeback 'Sneakers' after 10 months
Lun8, making their comeback after 10 months, has released their 4th mini album 'Off the Grid'. They will present the stage for the title track 'Sneakers', which captures their European tour experience, and share their upcoming tour schedule.
The group Lun8 has returned after a 10-month hiatus. Appearing on Mnet's 'M Countdown' stage on the 23rd, Lun8 officially began their activities by performing the title track 'SNEAKERS' from their fourth mini-album 'Off the Grid'. This comeback captures the free-spirited energy the team internalized through their recent European tour.
Instead of a standardized look, the members chose sporty and casual styling on stage. The title track 'SNEAKERS' depicts the image of youth tying their shoelaces and walking their own paths. Kael remarked, "The moment I heard the chorus, I thought, 'This is it.' I felt it was addictive enough to be remembered after just one listen, and above all, it's a song that fits Lun8 best." Takuma also expressed high expectations due to the refreshing concept and familiar subject matter that he usually prefers.
The 'Freedom' on Stage Changed by the European Tour
The 'refreshing' vibe Lun8 defines in this album differs from the typical image of existing idols. Rather than a neat appearance, they aim for the energy of students playing around and being mischievous. Kael said, "When people think of 'refreshing,' they often imagine a pretty and neat image, but for us, looking like students who are clumsily playing and running around is more true to who we are."
The driving force behind this change was the European tour. Jinsoo confessed, "In the past, we focused on perfectly showing what we had prepared. But after going on the European tour, I started to wonder if only doing what we prepared was actually trapping our charm." The album title 'Off the Grid,' which signifies breaking away from set frameworks, reflects the members' change in mindset.
During actual local performances, spontaneous actions occurred, such as adding improvised movements not in the rehearsal or splashing water during the show. Junwoo shared, "In the past, I thought we had to do exactly as we practiced, but during the European performances, fans responded enthusiastically even to our improvised actions. I felt that showing my own unique charm is more important, and that experience naturally flowed into this current promotion." Jinsoo added that the free atmosphere, where fans enjoyed unplanned actions even more, led to this album.
The 'SNEAKERS' Performance Designed by the Members Themselves
The members' level of participation in production is high for this promotion. Junwoo, Takuma, and Ian directly participated in creating the point choreography for the title track 'SNEAKERS.' They put their heads together to complete moves that anyone could easily follow. Junwoo explained, "Rather than being difficult, I wanted to create choreography that is fun and easy to follow. I shared various ideas with the members so it could also be enjoyed as a challenge."
On the 'M Countdown' stage released on the 23rd, these efforts were revealed through concrete performance. The members visualized the song's message through dynamic formation changes and lighthearted point movements. Even amidst the energetic atmosphere, they proved their teamwork by maintaining stable breathing and live vocal skills. Their performance, coupled with casual styling, brought the theme of 'confident youth' onto the stage.
From Seoul Fancon to an 8-City European Tour
After completing their comeback stage, Lun8's schedule continues both domestically and internationally. On August 8th, they will hold 'OFF-ZONE,' their first solo fan concert since debut, at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul. After communicating directly with fans through the solo fancon, Lun8 will immediately embark on their second European tour, 'BEYOND THE MOON.'
Starting in Warsaw on August 10th, they will tour a total of eight cities, including Amsterdam, London, Cologne, Munich, Budapest, Paris, and Lisbon. Through this promotion, Kael stated, "I want to be told that we are a versatile group representing youth. Our goal is to finish this promotion well and carry this momentum through to year-end stages."
