From Chang Ki-ha's Silent Films to KATSEYE's Documentary: CGV in August

CGV has finalized a lineup of eight titles for its exclusive content brand, "C-Zip-e Ga-myeon," which will be showcased in theaters throughout August. The lineup spans various genres, ranging from music documentaries and concert films to animation. To capitalize on the peak summer season, the programming includes not only feature films but also footage capturing artists' performances and production processes.

Chang Ki-ha's Musical Experiments and KATSEYE's Growth Journey

Five titles are set to premiere simultaneously on August 26. A standout is "San San Jo Gak," a silent film documenting the production process of singer-songwriter Chang Ki-ha's first solo studio album. Based on poems written by Chang Ki-ha, the directing duo "Moraenae Geo-dong Susangjadeul" first realized the poems as a silent film. Chang Ki-ha then used this film as a foundation to create music, resulting in a 33-minute work featuring nine tracks. This film, which was previously previewed at the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival in May, will be available for 3,000 won.

The documentary "KATSEYE: Wild Hearts," which follows the journey of the global girl group KATSEYE, will be released on August 12. It features unreleased footage, member interviews, and fan stories, tracing their evolution from the "Dream Academy" debut project to becoming global pop stars. Following this, ATEEZ's concert film "ATEEZ: LIGHT THE WAY in Cinema" will meet audiences on August 19. The film reconfigures the first cinematic VR concert, "LIGHT THE WAY," into a 2D format and includes 20 minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage to enhance the sense of presence.

Ghibli Remastering and Rock Band Live Performances

Studio Ghibli's "The Secret World of Arrietty" will return to theaters in a 4K remastered version for the first time in 16 years. Re-released after its initial domestic run in 2010, the film is scheduled for release on August 19. Laika Studios' stop-motion animation "ParaNorman" will also be screened in 4K remastered format, alongside the special short film "The Mysterious Sundry Shop," which is making its domestic debut. The dark fantasy romance "Dracula: A Love Tale," directed by Luc Besson, will be released on August 26.

"SPYAIR JUST LIKE THIS 2025," capturing the outdoor performance of the Japanese rock band SPYAIR, will also premiere on August 26. This film brings to the big screen the representative outdoor concert series "JUST LIKE THIS" held in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, last September. On the same day, "Touched Concert [Highlight IV]: The Movie," the first solo concert film by the Korean band Touched, will also be released. It captures the live performance of "HIGHLIGHT IV" held at the Seoul Ticketlink Live Arena last January, along with the planning process and song selection behind-the-scenes.

CGV recorded consolidated revenue of 573.4 billion won and an operating profit of 8.7 billion won in the first quarter of this year. This represents a 7.5% increase in revenue and a 172.4% increase in operating profit compared to the same period last year. A CGV official stated that through "C-Zip-e Ga-myeon" in August, the company will present a diverse range of content, including not only films but also live performances and music documentaries.
