Seoul hits 34°C and Daegu 37°C as heatwave warnings and tropical nights persist nationwide

Seoul at 34°C, Daegu at 37°C: Nationwide High Temperatures

According to meteorological reports, heatwave warnings have been issued for southwestern Seoul, northern Incheon, southern Paju in Gyeonggi Province, and the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City. Heatwave advisories are also in effect for areas including Mungyeong and Andong in Gyeongbuk Province, and Seogwipo in Jeju, necessitating caution. While the intensity of the warnings varies by region, overall temperatures remain extremely high.

Looking at specific temperature distributions, morning lows nationwide ranged between 25°C and 28°C. Daytime highs saw Seoul reach 34°C and Daegu hit 37°C, with temperatures across the country ranging from 32°C to 39°C. In some areas, extreme heat is being felt as daytime highs soar as high as 39°C.

With heatwave warnings active in most parts of the country, the pattern of sweltering heat and tropical nights is expected to continue. As regions nationwide record morning lows of 25°C or higher, the heat trapped during the day is expected to carry over into the night, sustaining the tropical night phenomenon.

The current weather pattern reflects widespread sweltering conditions, encompassing both daytime heatwaves and nighttime tropical nights. As the nationwide heatwave persists, extreme temperatures are expected to continue, with some regions seeing highs climb to 39°C.

Temperature readings are also exceptionally high. Seoul's daytime high reached 34°C, while Daegu recorded 37°C. The nationwide range for daytime highs is between 32°C and 39°C, and morning lows are maintaining between 25°C and 28°C, supporting the occurrence of tropical nights where temperatures fail to drop sufficiently overnight.
