Broadcaster Jo Young-goo spoke about the mental stress she experienced due to her husband's past nagging and the subsequent changes in their marital relationship. According to a video released on the YouTube channel 'Dongchimi' on September 23, 2026, Jo Young-goo revealed that she experienced psychological difficulties due to her husband's strong personality and nagging following their marriage in 2008.
"What is scarier than nagging is my husband's tears"... Times endured through 'Mute' and 'Text Bombs'
In the video, Jo Young-goo mentioned that her husband's nagging was a daily occurrence. Due to her husband's tendency to dislike food smells in the house, conflicts would arise over issues such as feeding fish to their child or whether to eat out. Jo Young-goo said she sought various ways to avoid the stress coming from these situations, such as religious life or reading. In particular, she explained that when her husband would pour out words, she would respond by not reacting, much like the 'Mute' state of a TV program.
The timing of when her husband's response method changed was also mentioned. According to Jo Young-goo's explanation, when her husband judged that his wife was not listening, he would use a 'text bomb' method by sending long text messages from inside the car. Jo Young-goo stated that while she initially checked all the contents and felt hurt, she later managed her stress by responding in a way that involved not looking at the messages.
Changes starting in June 2018, from a husband like 'Atom' to a 'crybaby'
Jo Young-goo reported that a major change occurred in her husband starting from June 2018. She said that her husband, who used to be full of energy in the past, gradually became weakened, and he began to show behavior such as not reacting to his wife's words and going into his room to hide under a blanket and cry. Jo Young-goo shared an anecdote of witnessing her husband hiding under a blanket and crying, mentioning his changed appearance compared to his strong self in the past.
She suggested hormone issues as one of the causes of this change. Jo Young-goo added an empirical view that when male hormone levels decrease, changes in personality or energy can occur. Citing her own experience of experiencing a drop in hormone levels in her early 40s, she expressed the opinion that her husband's change could be related to physical changes.
"I choose silence over nagging"... The changed conversation rules of the couple
There were also specific changes regarding the communication style of the couple. Jo Young-goo stated that if she had to choose between her husband's nagging and silence, she would choose 'silence.' She said her husband does not want to hear boring stories or stories about private life, and prefers conversations that involve money-making topics, interesting stories, or fresh information. Accordingly, Jo Young-goo explained that she continues conversations by delivering interesting or beneficial stories to her husband.
Unlike the past when her husband used to nag about her clothing, Jo Young-goo showed a changed relationship where they now respect each other's styles or refrain from conversation. Jo Young-goo mentioned that nagging can sometimes be an expression of worry and affection, suggesting that the way conflicts are resolved between couples can vary from person to person.
