Mija confesses, "I avoided marriage due to my father's patriarchal behavior"

Broadcaster Mija revealed her experience of having negative thoughts about marriage in the past due to her father's behavior.

In a broadcast video released on September 26, 2026, Mija mentioned that she had thought about not wanting to marry because of the patriarchal attitude her father showed in the past. Through video subtitles and her remarks, Mija recalled how her father continuously made demands of her mother during meals. According to Mija's explanation, her father would sit at the table and continuously demand food such as sujeonggwa or fruit from her mother, and he did not stop his demands even though her mother expressed dissatisfaction through her eyes.

The changed appearance of her father after the appearance of her son-in-law

Mija emphasized that her father's appearance has changed a lot recently compared to before. Unlike his past self, she said there has been a change in her father's behavior after his son-in-law entered the household. Mija said that her father showed a changed attitude, such as suddenly starting to do the dishes to set an example for his son-in-law. In particular, she explained that he shows an affectionate side when he is with his son-in-law, such as holding hands with her mother, showing a 180-degree different side from before.

However, Mija added her opinion that it is difficult to objectively judge whether this change is a change in her father's original personality or a temporary appearance that manifests within family relationships. This is because the existing appearance felt as father and daughter still exists in the family relationship.

The father's attitude appearing in the changed daily life

Mija revealed an anecdote where her father stepped forward to do the dishes himself during a recent meal. Her father insisted, saying, "I will do the dishes," and although Mija tried to stop him because she felt uncomfortable with an elder doing the work himself, her father refused and showed his determination. Mija also expressed her complex feelings while describing her father's expression at the time.

Additionally, Mija mentioned the appearance her father showed when moving with his son-in-law. She said that while her father showed an affectionate side, such as walking arm-in-arm with his son-in-law, the sight Mija observed from behind contained another side different from his usual self. Mija mentioned scenes such as her father wearing a mustang and walking arm-in-arm with his son-in-law, suggesting that behind the outwardly affectionate appearance, his unique way of conveying his opinions to the family still remains.
