Chairwoman Lee Soo-young, who became a social role model by donating 76.6 billion won, recalled the process of building her assets through real estate auctions in the past. In a video released by TV CHOSUN STAR, she shared an anecdote about winning an auction for a property that no one else looked at back in 1988, emphasizing the importance of a challenging spirit.
Land that dragged on until the 21st auction, assets built with 27.5 million won
Chairwoman Lee Soo-young revealed that she became interested in real estate to extract sand while running a ranch in Anyang in the past. When she asked an acquaintance, who was a bank manager at the time, if there were any items worth buying to prepare for inflation, there was a piece of land that no one would buy because changing its usage was difficult. The item in question was being ignored to the extent that it had proceeded through as many as 21 auctions.
Lee explained the situation at the time, saying, "It would have been good if the usage could just be changed, but everyone was reluctant." Ultimately, on August 21, 1988, Lee won the auction for the item. The winning bid at the time was 27.5 million won, and afterward, through changes in usage and other factors, the asset value rose significantly, becoming the foundation of her business. In this process, Lee added her intense field experience, saying, "I suffered so much that I grew lumps this size on my feet."
"Nothing is impossible if a person does it"... The value of health and challenge
In the video, Lee showed a vibrant appearance, such as emphasizing protein intake for health management in her old age. Mentioning that protein becomes deficient as one gets older, her attention to her diet reminded her companions of the importance of health. While sharing stories of her past hardships, Lee revealed her attitude toward a life of challenge by leaving the message, "Nothing is impossible if a person does it. So, just try it."
A sense of leisure was felt in Lee's appearance as she enjoyed outdoor activities such as playing in the water and sand baths. Recalling memories of frequently bringing children here in the past, Lee mentioned the joy provided by the sea and the fresh air. The group spent time offering congratulations and words of support while watching Lee's healthy appearance.
