While the cast members were flustered by the movements of the long-arm octopus, Kim Yong-bin drew attention with his delicate cooking skills. The third episode of "Trot Kitchen: Traveling Dinner Show," reported by TV CHOSUN JOY, captured the cast members in the process of making dishes using long-arm octopus.
Panic before the live octopus and Kim Yong-bin's surprising skills
The cooking process was not smooth, starting from the stage of cleaning the long-arm octopus. The cast members showed bewilderment, unable to easily touch the live long-arm octopus due to its movements. Tension was high on set, with jokes being exchanged asking if Kim Yong-bin was a "coward" ahead of the octopus preparation. During the process of washing and cleaning the long-arm octopus, the cast members reacted by shrinking back at the lively appearance of the creature. The footage showed the use of fingers to handle the long-arm octopus during the catching process, sparking various reactions among the cast members who had to take charge of the preparation.
However, once the cooking began in earnest, Kim Yong-bin's demeanor changed. He demonstrated delicate hand movements while cleaning and shaping the long-arm octopus. He utilized precise techniques, such as twisting two pieces together diagonally to prevent the octopus from escaping, a process intended to ensure the pieces would curl beautifully later. Watching this, the cast members marveled at his skills, noting, "Artists are delicate," and "He has a natural feel in his hands."
The harmony of Yu-jang and seasoning: the taste of the completed octopus dish
The quality of the dish was enhanced by a homemade sauce. Yu-jang, made by adding a little soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger, was added to the long-arm octopus dish. When grilling the octopus, care was taken to ensure it did not unravel, and the sauce was applied to allow it to absorb more smoke.
Upon tasting the completed dish, the cast members focused on the flavor of the sauce. In the video, specific reactions were given that the sauce tasted like chicken skewers or rice cake skewers. Satisfied with the result of the fresh long-arm octopus combined with the homemade sauce, the cast members expressed their satisfaction, saying they "could eat a hundred" of them. In particular, evaluations of the sauce included "it's amazing," with reactions noting the difference made by the fresh ingredients.
