JUSTB's Do-yeom reveals meticulous vocal producing process in new vlog
A new producing vlog released via JUSTB's official channel reveals member Do-yeom's detailed approach to vocal directing and song arrangement to ensure high production quality.
JUSTB member Do-yeom showcased his role as a producer in a new vlog, where he spent seven hours in the recording studio adjusting vocal dynamics and rhythm to ensure the song's perfection.
The time spent in the recording studio by JUSTB member Do-yeom to perfect the details of a song has been revealed. A producing vlog uploaded through the official JUSTB channel captures his role as a producer, meticulously adjusting vocal dynamics, rhythm, and even the flow of choreography to enhance the song's completeness.
"You have to pull it back at the end"... Directing that determines vocal texture
In the recording studio, Do-yeom focused on vocal pronunciation and endings to establish the song's color. In the video, regarding the handling of a specific section, Do-yeom requested control over rhythm and breathing, stating, "Don't just leave the end like that; you have to do it and then pull it back, yes, you have to pull it back at the end."
The process of setting the pitch range was also detailed. Do-yeom provided guidelines for the vocal range to be maintained, specifying, "The pitch doesn't go down to every single second." Furthermore, to realize the energy of the song, he used intuitive expressions such as "It needs to bounce more, like a frog jumping" and "Don't sing it prettily, sing it with effort" to draw out the vocal expression.
Connecting song structure and choreography: The producer's concerns
Do-yeom's considerations extended beyond vocals to the harmony between song structure and choreography. During the recording process, he suggested roles for members, noting, "For this part, there is one more for Dizzy's part, hyung," while members were observed "preparing the choreography diligently."
Discussions continued regarding elements that determine the song's atmosphere. Do-yeom suggested adjusting dynamics, saying, "I'll try making the strong and weak parts extremely extreme." In particular, the video shows the process of adding or modifying new songs even after "the song selection is already all fixed," revealing the producing process used to create the best possible result.
7 hours of recording: Persistence toward perfection
Unlike typical producing sessions that take about 3.5 to 4 hours, this session proceeded with high density, as noted by the mention, "We just do everything we can to record for 7 hours." The process involved raising energy with the members, composing choreography, and repeatedly checking the recorded results.
Do-yeom shared his feelings, stating he worried because his "greed is too much" for the sake of the song's perfection. He also expressed regret regarding the pace of work for a specific song, saying, "I feel like the recording ended too quickly." In this manner, Do-yeom focused on increasing the density of the sound by constantly checking if the members' vocals aligned with the intention of the song.
