IU donates 10 million won to Yangpyeong County… 400 million won this year alone
Singer IU has donated 10 million won to the low-income residents of Yangpyeong County. Through her ongoing relationship with Yangpyeong County for the past six years, she has donated a cumulative total of 165 million won, and her total donations this year have exceeded 400 million won.
'Happy Sharing Donation' of 10 million won donated for low-income groups in Yangpyeong-gun
Singer and actress IU has once again extended a warm hand to the underprivileged neighbors in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. IU recently donated 10 million won in relief funds to help low-income vulnerable groups within Yangpyeong-gun.
This donation was designated as the 'Yangpyeong-gun Happy Sharing Donation' through the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea. The donated funds will be used for customized welfare projects for neighbors in welfare blind spots. Yangpyeong-gun plans to ensure that practical support is provided to low-income vulnerable groups in need within the region through this donation.
Cumulative donations of 165 million won delivered to Yangpyeong-gun over 6 years
The connection between IU and Yangpyeong-gun dates back to 2018. At that time, IU purchased a house and land in Yangpyeong, and it is known that her family subsequently settled in the area. Since her family settled in the region, IU has been actively practicing sharing in Yangpyeong-gun since 2020.
The areas of donation are also very diverse. She has consistently delivered various forms of donations tailored to the needs of the local community, including support for COVID-19 response, living expenses for grandparent-headed and single-parent families, and heating cost support during the winter season. Including this 10 million won donation, the cumulative amount IU has delivered to Yangpyeong-gun over the past six years reaches approximately 165 million won.
Continuing good deeds by donating more than 400 million won this year alone
IU's sharing extends beyond Yangpyeong-gun to various parts of the country. Her donation activities this year have become even more specific. To celebrate Children's Day on May 5th, IU, along with her fan club 'UAENA' under the name 'IU-AENA', donated 50 million won each to the Korea Child Welfare Association and the Korea Association of Local Children's Centers, totaling 100 million won.
Following this, to celebrate her birthday on May 16th, she donated 100 million won to Asan Medical Center and distributed a total of 300 million won by giving 50 million won each to 'Children Walking Together', 'Milk Delivery Asking After the Elderly', 'Korea Unmarried Mothers and Families Association', and 'Warm Companion'. With this, the cumulative amount IU has donated this year has exceeded 400 million won.
