'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle,' which drew 5.58 million viewers, will be re-released in August. It will be carried out as the first major project following the merger of Aniplus and Animax.
The Choice of 5.58 Million: The Infinity Castle Decisive Battle Begins Anew
'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc,' which dominated theaters last summer, will meet audiences again this August to mark its one-year anniversary. On the 14th, Aniplus announced the re-release by unveiling the main poster for this special screening. This work captures the story of the first chapter of the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the most elite demons, set in the Infinity Castle, the stronghold of the demons. Based on Koyoharu Gotouge's original manga, it is produced by ufotable and directed by Haruo Sotozaki.
Record-breaking figures serve as the backdrop for this re-release. Originally released in Korea on August 22, 2025, the film held the number one spot at the box office for 20 consecutive days. With a cumulative audience of 5,588,011, it holds the record for the highest number of viewers for a Japanese animated film in Korea. It ranked second in the overall 2025 annual box office and was the highest-grossing title among CJ ENM's 2025 releases.
Following the Special Theater Craze, On-site Premiums are Prepared
On March 25, it was re-released in special formats such as ScreenX, 4DX, and IMAX, attracting 111,838 viewers. Despite being a re-screening only seven months after its initial release, it reached number three at the box office and achieved a peak seat occupancy rate of 83.8%.
This August special screening marks the fourth theatrical release, following the subtitled version, the dubbed version, and the special format re-releases. Aniplus will provide on-site premiums to viewers during the screening period, including the opening day. The specific start date, nationwide theater list, and types of premiums will be revealed through a detailed schedule later.
The First Major Project After the Animax and Aniplus Merger
This re-release is drawing significant attention within the industry. It is the first wide release presented since Animax Broadcasting Korea and Aniplus completed their merger and acquisition on July 1. This is the first large-scale theatrical project launched by the newly formed merged entity. Both companies will test the content competitiveness and distribution capabilities secured through the merger with this work.
Aniplus will handle the import, and CJ ENM will manage the distribution to supply the work to theaters nationwide. As it is the first move of the integrated corporation, the key will be the synergy within the domestic animation market. Fans are sharing the news of the August re-release through social media and communities, focusing on information regarding the premiums.
The Final Battle Against Demons Unfolds in the Infinity Castle
The work focuses on the clash between the Demon Slayer Corps members and the elite demons centered around the 'Infinity Castle,' the demons' stronghold. The core of this film, which brings the central conflict of the original work to the screen, lies in the intersection of ufotable's animation and directing with the space of the Infinity Castle.
This special screening, to be held in theaters nationwide in August, will once again draw animation fans to the cinema. Aniplus plans to secure its market share in the domestic animation market based on the distribution network established through this screening.
