Distributor Lotte Entertainment announced on the 26th that the animated film 'David' has surpassed 200,000 cumulative admissions just 17 days after its release. This achievement comes as the film competes against major summer hits such as 'Hope', 'MINIONS & MONSTERS', and 'Moana'. According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, 'David' ranked 5th at the box office on the 25th. On that day, 20,331 viewers visited theaters, accounting for a 3.8% market share, pushing the cumulative audience count past the 200,000 mark from 199,542. The film currently sits at 26th place in the 2026 box office rankings.

Top of Independent and Art Film Box Office for 17 Consecutive Days

Since its release, the animated film 'David' has held the number one spot on the independent and art film box office for 17 consecutive days. The film follows the journey of David, an ordinary shepherd, who begins with his mother's song, faces the giant Goliath, and ultimately accepts his destiny as king. Directed by Phil Cunningham and Brent Dos, the film is a co-production between South Africa and the United States. The Korean dubbing features a lineup of talented actors, led by Park Bo-gum, alongside Jang Gwang, Cha Ji-yeon, Song Joon-seok, and Si Young-jun, enhancing the immersive experience. Meanwhile, the subtitled version features the voices of Brandon Engman, Phil Wickham, Brian Stevesile, Adam Michael Gold, and Miri Mesica.
