South Korea's exports are moving toward an era of "1 trillion dollars in exports" by expanding their scope across all fronts, moving beyond core industries such as semiconductors and automotive parts to bio and consumer goods. According to a KOTRA TV video, demand for Korean technological prowess and product quality has been steadily increasing in the recent global market.
Global manufacturers in the United States, Japan, etc., continuously request cooperation for Korean materials, parts, and equipment
In global manufacturing sites, there is active movement to find Korean materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) companies. According to an explanation from an on-site official appearing in the video, large companies from the United States, Japan, Europe, and other regions gathered on September 8 to discuss technical cooperation with Korean companies. In particular, it was revealed that US automobile and heavy equipment manufacturers such as Stellantis and GM are exploring possibilities for cooperation with approximately 60 excellent Korean materials, parts, and equipment companies.
Amid the trend of AI acceleration and expanded investment in the manufacturing sector, requests for technical cooperation with Korean companies are also increasing. An interviewee in the video stated, "Many companies are showing interest in our products this year," adding, "We hope to develop together or cooperate through Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) so that good cooperation can be achieved in the future." Business with Japanese automotive parts supplier Aisin is also ongoing, and it is projected that this will lead to business expansion within the next 2 to 3 years.
K-Consumer goods craze blowing in Europe and South American markets
The scope of exports is rapidly spreading beyond industrial goods to daily consumer goods. In the European market, consumer response to Korean products is hot. According to the video, a trend is emerging in major European regions such as Frankfurt, Germany, where consumers are directly trying and purchasing Korean products.
The response in the Central and South American region is also positive. At an expo held in Ecuador, high interest from local distributors and consumers could be confirmed. The video explains that the quality, technology, and innovativeness of Korean products are being recognized in the global market based on trust accumulated over the past 20 years. The KOTRA TV video reported that Korean companies are expanding their export range from core industrial components like semiconductors to consumer goods in daily life, chasing major export powerhouses such as China, the United States, and Germany to move toward the 1 trillion dollar export goal.
