CJ ENM has launched the 24-hour 'CJ ENM K-Dance' channel via LG Channels to provide United States and Canada viewers with free access to dance content, including 'Street Woman Fighter' and 'MAMA AWARDS'.

CJ ENM announced on the 27th that it has exclusively launched the 'CJ ENM K-Dance' channel through 'LG Channels', the global FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) service from LG Electronics, targeting viewers in the United States and Canada.

FAST is a streaming service that allows users to enjoy various content by watching advertisements without paying separate subscription fees. Through this launch, North American viewers can access representative dance content owned by CJ ENM at any time, moving beyond existing distribution channels. CJ ENM's strategy is to expand its content touchpoints in the North American market and strengthen its global distribution network through this collaboration.

From 'Street Woman Fighter' to 'MAMA AWARDS'... Expanding the K-dance universe to North America

The 'CJ ENM K-Dance' channel will feature 24-hour programming centered on Mnet's popular dance competition programs and reality shows. Content including the 'Street Woman Fighter' and 'Street Man Fighter' series, which possess global fandoms, as well as the dance reality show 'Somebody', 'MPD FanCam', and major stages from the 'MAMA AWARDS' will be broadcast through the channel. Content capturing various aspects of Korean dance culture, from street dance to K-POP performances, will reach North American viewers.

Content creators and artists are hoping this channel launch serves as an opportunity to promote the message of Korean dance culture to the world. "I wanted to share the message with viewers worldwide that dance can express something deeper than words," said Choi Jeong-nam, a CJ ENM PD who planned the 'Street Woman Fighter' series, adding, "This launch has become a new motivation to expand the universe of K-dance." Choreographers Back Koo Young and Bada also expressed their hope that "viewers will enjoy the intense yet warm moments within the programs."

Diversifying revenue models through global FAST platforms

This move by CJ ENM is interpreted as an effort to diversify the distribution routes of its owned content IP (intellectual property) and secure new revenue streams. FAST and AVOD (Advertising-based Video on Demand) platforms are emerging as key channels in the global content market, as they expand the touchpoints for existing content while enabling monetization through advertising. Park Eun-hye, head of the CJ ENM Content Distribution New Business Promotion Team, stated that the company will continue to expand distribution through major global FAST and AVOD platforms based on its unrivaled music and entertainment IP and vast content library.

CJ ENM is accelerating its push into the North American market, having already launched 'CJ ENM K-Pop' and 'CJ ENM K-Stories' channels on Amazon Prime Video in the United States. "FAST and AVOD are playing an important hub role in strengthening CJ ENM's global K-content distribution competitiveness," said Kim Do-hyun, head of the CJ ENM Content Distribution BU. "We will expand global platform partnerships like LG Channels so that more overseas viewers can encounter and enjoy Korean entertainment, and we will continue to discover new business opportunities."
