Man claims muscle spasms from winter cold after minor parking lot bump
A driver facing insurance fraud suspicions after a man who was not inside a vehicle during a minor collision demanded medical expenses, claiming muscle spasms caused by the winter cold. The case was featured on JTBC's Han Moonchul's Dashcam Review.

A driver is considering reporting a man for insurance fraud after he demanded outpatient treatment costs for muscle spasms despite being outside the vehicle during a minor parking lot collision. The man, who was waiting outside while the driver reversed, reportedly received 400,000 won for his claims.
A bizarre case has emerged where an individual who was not inside a vehicle at the time of a minor collision—involving almost no contact between vehicles—demanded outpatient treatment costs. This incident, revealed through JTBC's Han Moonchul's Dashcam Review, illustrates how a simple contact accident can escalate into suspicions of insurance fraud.
"I was not in the car but I am injured"... Man claims muscle spasms due to winter cold
The incident occurred while a designated driver was reversing a vehicle in a parking lot. While driving a customer's car to pay for parking, the driver attempted to reverse slowly because the license plate recognition was not working smoothly, feeling a slight bump against the vehicle behind. Immediately after the contact, the driver checked the condition of the other vehicle, but no noticeable damage was found on either vehicle.

The problem arose after the accident. Despite no confirmed damage to the vehicle, the driver of the other car demanded personal injury coverage. While two people, a man and a woman, were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, the man had been waiting outside the car while waiting for the parking fee to be paid. However, he subsequently demanded outpatient treatment costs, claiming he was injured in the accident. He cited that because it was winter, he had been shivering outside and suffered muscle spasms.
The other party reportedly paid approximately 400,000 won to the man and approximately 300,000 won to the woman for outpatient treatment. The driver expressed difficulty in accepting the situation, as the man, who was not inside the vehicle during the accident, submitted a medical certificate to demand personal injury coverage. The driver is considering filing a report for insurance fraud regarding this matter.

Excessive repair claims for motorcycles and sudden acceleration mistakes by designated drivers
Another case involved a collision between a reversing vehicle and a motorcycle. In an accident where a reversing car struck a motorcycle, the motorcyclist demanded a total of 1.7 million won in repair costs, requesting repairs for the side of the bike in addition to the impact area. Ultimately, a settlement was reached by paying 1.1 million won for only the front impact area, but the remaining 600,000 won was pointed out as an unfair claim.
A major accident caused by an operational error during designated driving was also introduced. A designated driver, heading to an apartment underground parking lot with an intoxicated customer, confused the brake and accelerator pedals, causing the vehicle to surge forward as if in sudden acceleration. The vehicle sustained damage to the level of a total loss (scrapped). While the vehicle value can be compensated through designated driver insurance, the case raised practical issues regarding the difficulty of securing a replacement vehicle during the accident period if a rental car special contract is not held.
Unsafe dropping-off methods threatening road safety
Safety issues occurring while dropping off friends during designated driving were also mentioned. In a scene where a vehicle was stopped by the roadside or next to a sidewalk to let a passenger out, the passenger was captured losing balance and falling immediately after exiting the car. This was recorded as an example showing how important it is to secure a safe drop-off point for passengers during designated driving.
