Meat-heavy diets can cause body acidification and weakened immunity
A meat-centric diet that leads to body acidification can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of various diseases, according to medical warnings.
A meat-centric diet may lead to body acidification and a sharp drop in immunity, according to warnings issued following the kidney cancer diagnosis of specialist Hwa In-cheol. Excessive consumption of acidic foods like meat and refined carbohydrates can disrupt homeostasis, potentially increasing the risk of various diseases.
Warnings have been issued that a diet favoring meat can cause body acidification, which may lead to weakened immunity. Through the daily life of a subject who consumes meat so frequently that they maintain a dedicated meat refrigerator, the correlation between dietary habits and disease was examined.
A meat-centric diet and a dedicated meat refrigerator
Kim Jong-su and his wife, who previously operated a butcher shop, have maintained a long-standing habit of enjoying meat. Kim consumes meat so frequently that he operates a separate refrigerator specifically for meat, maintaining a diet centered on meat and broth rather than vegetables. Recently, Kim's health has signaled red flags as his weight has increased by more than 15kg compared to before his marriage.
The weight gain has led to various inflammatory diseases. Kim suffers from cystitis, osteoporosis, and knee arthritis, and has recently expressed fear regarding his health as symptoms of angina have appeared. His physical functions have declined significantly, to the point where he takes more than 10 pills every day. Although the couple attempts to take walks for their health, they are struggling to recover due to irregular eating habits and difficulties in weight control.
The impact of body acidification on immunity
Meat, seafood, refined carbohydrates, and processed foods are classified as representative acidic foods. If these foods are continuously consumed, there is a high risk that the body will lose its homeostasis—the ability to maintain a slightly alkaline state (pH 7.35–7.45)—and undergo acidification. When acidic waste accumulates in the body and acidification progresses, physical functions decline and immunity drops sharply, much like how an iron nail corrodes.
The human body has a tendency to balance its internal state, just as it maintains a body temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius. However, if excessive consumption of acidic foods raises the acidity within the body, the "homeostasis" that maintains physical balance collapses. In this process, if immunity decreases, the possibility of being exposed to various diseases, ranging from minor ailments to cancer, increases.
"The killer was me": A doctor's warning after a kidney cancer diagnosis
While explaining the dangers of dietary habits and acidity, specialist Hwa In-cheol revealed that he himself was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year. He cited the failure to control body acidity through eating and sleeping—namely, dietary habits and lifestyle patterns—as the cause of the cancer's development.
Having led an irregular life with no distinction between day and night as an obstetrician and gynecologist, he confessed, "The biggest cause was failing to control my body's acidity through what I ate and how I slept." He explained that while cancer cells are created in our bodies every day, health is maintained because immune functions detect and catch them, emphasizing that if immunity is broken, one can be exposed to numerous diseases, including cancer.
