During an appearance on KBS 'The Seasons S9', IVE's LIZ shared how appearing in a TAEYEON music video at age 15 solidified her ambition to become a singer. The Jeju Island native also reflected on her trainee days, including an audition performed seven years ago to the song 'Flower Road' by Kim Sejeong.
LIZ of IVE has revealed the motivations behind her dream of becoming a singer and various episodes from her trainee days. Appearing on KBS 'The Seasons S9', LIZ spoke candidly about her journey from being an "island girl" from Jeju Island to growing into a global idol.
The 15-year-old girl in TAEYEON's music video grows into IVE's LIZ
LIZ recalled her experience appearing in a music video for TAEYEON during her middle school years. She revealed that at the age of 15, watching TAEYEON in the music video helped solidify her dream of becoming a singer. "Seeing TAEYEON sunbae, I thought I wanted to become a beautiful woman like her," LIZ said, noting that the experience served as motivation for her as a student who loved music.

During the broadcast, scenes from the past music video featuring LIZ were mentioned. While appearing shy while watching her younger self on screen, LIZ reflected on the time she spent working toward her dream. In particular, she mentioned an anecdote from her trainee days when she was told, "You need to work harder on more than just your tone," emphasizing that she has constantly strived to improve her vocal skills rather than settling for her natural vocal color.
Auditioning with Kim Sejeong's 'Flower Road'... singing the song again after 7 years
LIZ also shared details regarding her audition. She recalled auditioning with the song 'Flower Road' by Kim Sejeong. At the time, ZICO was present at the Jellyfish Entertainment studio where LIZ was auditioning, and she shared an episode where ZICO gave her some lighthearted advice. Approximately seven years ago, when she was 16, LIZ performed 'Flower Road' once more in the studio. Her rendition of 'Flower Road' led the atmosphere of the scene with a vocal performance characterized by her signature moist breathing.

Having moved from Jeju Island, LIZ cited the "delivery culture" as her first impression of life in Seoul. She drew laughter by mentioning how fascinating the Seoul system was, where items ordered at night arrive the next morning, contrasting it with the convenience of Seoul against her life on Jeju Island where delivery fees were added and it took longer.
"I feel it on stage"... IVE's achievements and LIZ's sincerity
Regarding IVE's dazzling achievements, including 83 music show wins and a world tour, LIZ expressed her honest feelings that it still does not feel quite real. "I still feel like an island girl, and it doesn't feel like I've become a great star," LIZ said. However, she added that she does feel like a star during overseas tours when fans recognize her, or during moments on stage receiving loud cheers from large crowds.
Meanwhile, LIZ performed AKMU's 'How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love' on the stage. Filling the stage with a vocal performance that captured the song's emotions, she once again proved her capabilities as IVE's main vocalist.
