Singer Harisu appeared on the YouTube channel Ahn Sun-young's Double Life, where she candidly shared updates on her gaming broadcasts and the family history of raising her four nieces and nephews herself.
Singer Harisu is maintaining an active presence across both YouTube and TikTok. On the 7th, Harisu appeared on the YouTube channel 'Ahn Sun-young's Double Life,' where she shared updates on her recent life, past memories, and her affection for her family. The video was uploaded with a title covering topics such as scandals from her heyday and her experiences following gender reassignment surgery.
Currently, Harisu is hosting game broadcasts in collaboration with gaming companies on her YouTube channel, 'Harisu TV.' She is also continuing live broadcasts on TikTok under the name 'Harisu.' Cast member Ahn Sun-young reacted to Harisu's trendy lifestyle, saying, "This unnie lives so young. I barely even managed to do YouTube."
Overcoming 10 Years of Obscurity with the Support of Dodo Cosmetics
Before her glamorous peak, there was a long period of obscurity. Harisu entered the entertainment industry as a drama extra during her high school years and began her career as a woman after graduation. At the time, she received offers for major advertisements, dramas, and films, but contracts were frequently canceled once it became known that she was a transgender woman. Ultimately, she had to endure nearly 10 years of being unknown.
The turning point came in the late 2000s. While 'Dodo Cosmetics' was searching for a model under the concept that 'men can become as beautiful as women if they wear makeup,' Harisu's profile was submitted. Even knowing that Harisu was transgender, the chairman of the cosmetics company gave her full support, stating, "She must be the one."
This decision served as a springboard for Harisu to leap into a nationwide star. At the time, Harisu had non-stop events all month long, handling more than five schedules a day. Having been active enough to surpass the earnings of Kim Gun-mo, she recalled, "There was never a month when I didn't have events." Since debuting with her first studio album 'Temptation' in 2001, she continued her career by appearing in films such as 'Yellow Hair 2' (2001), 'Emergency Measure No. 19' (2002), and 'Harisu Dosaek' (2004).
5th Album and New Songs 'Ae-ji-mong' and 'Dwaet-geodeun'
Her musical activities remain steady. Harisu stated, "I've released up to my 5th album, and if you count OSTs and features, there are countless." On August 24 last year, she released the new songs 'Ae-ji-mong' and 'Dwaet-geodeun.' However, she also mentioned that she could not fully promote the new songs due to her busy schedule. She added, "Because I was so busy, I couldn't do much promotion, but many people are enjoying them."
The Life of a 'Great-Aunt' Who Raised Four Nieces and Nephews
Her family history was also revealed. Harisu personally raised her biological brother's children. As her brother divorced immediately after the children were born, she had to care for them along with her mother. She currently has six nieces and nephews in total, four of whom she raised directly with her mother. Ahn Sun-young expressed surprise, noting that Harisu practically played the role of a mother.
News of the nieces and nephews' growth was also shared. Most of them are currently in college. In particular, one of her biological nieces got married in Japan last year and had a child, making Harisu a 'great-aunt.'
