"We hate predictable courses"... WJSN's Seol-gi and Soobin find 'different' local vibes in Jeonju
WJSN members Seol-gi and Soobin showcased a new travel course in Jeonju that blends traditional culture with modern trends…
Members of the group WJSN, Seol-gi and Soobin, presented a new travel course in Jeonju where traditional culture and modern trends coexist. While existing Jeonju travel has remained within standardized routes focused on Hanbok experiences, the places they visited were points where the region's unique crafts and modern-sensibility spaces harmonize.
The production process of traditional fans, a sincere completion through 'Dapseon'
Seol-gi and Soobin visited the Jeonju Fan Culture Center and participated in an experience to make fans containing the traditions of Jeonju. In the video, the cast members looked at the types of fans, which are specialties of Jeonju, encountered the 'danseon' style they had seen at their grandmothers' houses in the past, and noted its magnificent embroidery.
The experience detailed the process of making 'dream fans.' During the process of attaching Hanji (traditional Korean paper) to the bamboo slats, the 'dapseon' work was carried out to adjust the spacing between the Hanji sheets and press them closely. Dapseon refers to the process of stepping on them to attach them. The cast members experienced the traditional method of pressing the Hanji with their feet to make it adhere, and confirmed the production process of the fans, which are completed by adding coloring to the ginkgo tree patterns. Regarding the fan she made herself, Seol-gi expressed its preciousness, saying, "I don't think I can give this to anyone. We should use it ourselves."
The transformation of an air-raid shelter, a 'music video' like moment in a space filled with light
Next, the two visited a newly created place that used to be an air-raid shelter. Seeing the grand structure and the interior lighting effects, the cast members noted the atmosphere of the space, with one asking, "Soobin, shouldn't we be filming a music video here?" In particular, the interior space, which used light to create an effect like fireflies, drew a reaction of "It's beautiful" from the cast.
This place provides a unique visual experience without being affected by the weather, and the cast members experienced the aesthetic elements and childhood innocence provided by the space by showing formations as if filming a live clip. The cast members mentioned that while it is easy to think only of the Hanok Village when thinking of Jeonju, they were able to confirm a new side of Jeonju through this place, which has been beautifully decorated using an air-raid shelter.
The sensibility of Nambu Market Youth Mall, a gourmet course for the 2030 generation
The conclusion of the trip took place at the Youth Mall located within Nambu Market in Jeonju. Seol-gi and Soobin enjoyed the unique local atmosphere while walking through the Youth Mall, which is characterized by cute props and an emotional atmosphere. They confirmed the vitality of the local commercial district while looking at the props in the Youth Mall.
Handmade fish cakes within the market were chosen for the meal. The cast members expressed their satisfaction with the Jeonju trip while tasting the handmade fish cakes with a chewy texture. Seol-gi shared her thoughts, saying, "I thought it would be predictable because the Hanbok course is famous when it comes to Jeonju, but this trip was truly healing." Additionally, Soobin explained the charm of this travel route, saying, "If foreign tourists make fans, eat cheese, and look around the market, I think they will be able to feel a lot of Korean sensibility."
