From 'Lemon Basil' to 'Cat Supplements' inside the fridge... Chef Kwon Sung-joon's unique refrigerator revealed

In the variety program 'Chef & My Fridge', which looks into the eating habits and daily lives of chefs through their refrigerators, Chef Kwon Sung-joon's refrigerator was revealed. The contents of the revealed refrigerator were filled with unique elements that left the cast members, Kim Sung-joo and Ahn Jung-hwan, bewildered.

"Isn't this a setup?"... Chef Kwon Sung-joon's thorough concept and unique ingredients

While checking Chef Kwon Sung-joon's refrigerator, Kim Sung-joo and Ahn Jung-hwan expressed doubt regarding the composition inside. In the video, Chef Kwon Sung-joon revealed a container used to store 'levain', a natural yeast used to ferment bread dough. Chef Kwon Sung-joon explained the management process of the levain, which requires being fed every day, saying, "I have made this levain by myself for 7 years."

However, the reaction of the cast members upon facing the other components of the refrigerator was cold. Seeing the cheese, seasonings, and pasta noodles that reminded them of Italian ingredients displayed, Kim Sung-joo remarked, "Anyone can see I am Italy," adding, "It looks too much like a setup." In particular, when it was captured that basil and lemon basil appeared to be growing inside the refrigerator, Ahn Jung-hwan expressed embarrassment, saying, "This is the first time I've seen such things coming out of a refrigerator." In response, Chef Kwon Sung-joon, seemingly recognizing that those ingredients are more suitable for room-temperature storage, classified those ingredients as room-temperature items at the request of the cast.

Unexpected elements in the studio: cat supplements and soju

There were also moments where Chef Kwon Sung-joon's personal life was revealed. When soju was discovered in the studio refrigerator of Chef Kwon Sung-joon, who was known to not drink alcohol, the cast members gave a joking reaction, saying they felt betrayed. Additionally, an Omega-3 product presumed to be cat supplements was found inside the refrigerator, indirectly revealing that Chef Kwon Sung-joon raises a cat. Chef Kwon Sung-joon also shared the recent news that his younger sister looks after the cat when he has a schedule.

His professional chef side also stood out in terms of ingredients. In the freezer compartment, expensive ingredients such as 'Carabinero', a Spanish red shrimp, and 'Scampi', a thorny prawn, were stored. Furthermore, professional ingredients that are hard to see in an ordinary household, such as veal shank, thymus, and gelatin for dessert research which were excluded from the menu, were identified.

A contrast with Chef Yoon Nam-ro's 'real' refrigerator

The subsequent reveal of Chef Yoon Nam-ro's refrigerator created a contrasting atmosphere with Chef Kwon Sung-joon. Chef Yoon Nam-ro brought and revealed his actual home refrigerator, saying, "This is the truth." Chef Yoon Nam-ro, who showed an honest and human side by putting ingredients directly into his mouth in a situation where there was no refrigerator, stood in contrast to Chef Kwon Sung-joon's organized (or set up) refrigerator.
